Ruth has the Edge

Ruth Edge has shown the class that might still gain the place on the British Team at this years Olympics following the withdrawal of Zara Phillips earlier this week, by leading both International classes at Burgie International Horse Trials following the completion of the dressage phase.

In the Easibed CCI* Ruth fills the first 2 places on Paper Tiger and Nick of Thyme ahead of Scottish based New Zealand rider Caroline Powell. In 4th and 5th place are 2 young Scottish riders Sarra Mayberry (Stirling) and Tabitha Baird (Banchory). Zara Phillips who is trying to put the disappointments of earlier in the week behind her is in 7th place just behind Perthshire based rider James Oakden.

In the Malcolm Group CCI** Ruth is leading on P.C. Wilson just ahead of Nigel Taylor and Irish rider Caroline Bjoerk. Inverurie rider Jennifer Johnson is still well in contention in 4th place.

The action now focuses on the Cross Country with a full day of top class international sport starting at 9.30am and continuing all day.

There are many other attractions including The Sheep Show and The Bolddog Lings Freestyle Motocross display team as well as a host of trade-stands.
